The Smoke Free Rockquest: Killing Careers Before They Even Started Since 1988

 

This years Smoke Free Rockquest national finals are scheduled for the 11th of September at Auckland’s Raye Freedman Centre. The annual event will bring together 6 of New Zealands premier prepubescent college and intermediate bands from across the country to duel it out as to who is the most derivative and identity lacking fad hopping band geek in all the secondary school lands.

Mclaren Valley Festival - Will it succeed or will it Mclarens Fails?

 

 

Personally as a music fan and promoter myself I want this festival to succeed. It will be good for the Tauranga economy and its international entertainment profile. However will it work? Will people go? Does anyone know who the fuck Disclosure are? We weigh up the pros and cons of the McLaren Valley festival.

Nu Metal gets something of a bum rap. Mostly due to the fact that the people playing it were the 90's/00's equivalent  of 80's hair metal goons and the fans were predominately meatsacks with baseball caps worn backwards and red Mazda Rotary hoodies engulfing their thick heads. But ya know what? We can run. We can hide from it and our eternal shame but god dammit - that was the last original thing white boys with guitars actually achieved in rock music.

Man Vows to One Day Leave this Town

 

Life long Tauranga resident Curtis Chundlewitz today vowed to all his friends and family to one day leave this 'one horse' town. 

 

Chundlewitz, who has been declaring this twice yearly for the past decade promises that this time he is 'serious'. Now 28 years of age and working as a mail sorter Mr Chundlewood believes that he has 'outgrown' this town and needs a change of pace and scenery to reinvigorate him.
